Summer Broadway Festival II

All Singin', All Dancin' II

The Town Hall
New York, NY
Powerhouse singin’… greatly varied dancin’ (skillful choreography: Josh Rhodes)… all those dancin’ feet: quite a feat, quite a fete, fait accompli! The danced-enhanced finale second annual Festival is the proud offspring of the Broadway By The Year series. Their curator-creator, Scott Siegel, directing/ respecting/hosting/toasting musical theater, included hits from many decades and majorly pleased the crowd, making it Broadway By The Cheer. The electric Kendrick Jones and Melinda Sullivan tapped and triumphed. Liz McCartney brought bright, bravura Broadway belt, Natasha Yvette Williams led the company with great shakes on “Shakin’ the Blues Away,” and Shonn Wiley wins the charm prize. There was even a premiere: a moving new song added to Working: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “A Very Good Day”--  it was a very good day (or rather, “Some Enchanted Evening,”-- bass-baritone William Michals, sans microphone, thrillingly stopped the show with that song). The Town Hall’s next Broadway star-studded Siegelized celebrations: October 17-19.
