So what do women really want? Love? Money? Power? Sex? All of the above? So queries Natalie Wilson and each possible answer supplies a song cue-- from Cole Porter’s basic instinct“Find Me a Primitive Man” to the nose-thumbing “The Lady Is a Tramp.” Most need to be more personalized, but she’s got a solid, clear voice. With a past singing opera, switching into cabaret mode (being inside rather than presenting songs) is a gear-shift not fully made in her cabaret debut. Presentation sent mixed, confusing signals. Indelible first impression slinking on in a shiny green gown and long black gloves indicated period/ attitude sometimes at odds with material. Did she want to be real or real over the top? Floozy or chanteuse-y? Sincerity came through finally in a lovely, unaffected “If Love Were All” and some comedy worked. Equally-billed pianist Kat Sherrell affably chimes in occasionally to sing and comment.
