THE CABARET FOUNDATION, LTD. is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation incorporated in the State of New York. We are an arts and educational organization dedicated to stimulating and promoting public interest in The Great American Songbook, its composers, lyricists, singers, musical directors, arrangers, venues — and The New American Songbook’s performers, composers and lyricists. The Foundation focuses on the historical development of Cabaret, fostering an awareness and appreciation of its impact on our culture by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting an archive for a global audience. We will honor those who have made outstanding contributions to Cabaret, The Great American Songbook and The New American Songbook, including Musical Theater and Jazz vocalists.

OUR ROLE AS CABARET’S ARCHIVISTS
By its very existence as the world’s only hard-copy publication dedicated to the world of Cabaret, Cabaret Scenes magazine is the art form’s ongoing, ever-increasing archive of Cabaret. Since its debut in 1996, the Foundation’s magazine has featured hundreds of profiles on those who have had an impact on every aspect of cabaret, plus thousands of reviews of cabaret performances, CDs, and cabaret-relevant books. Our mission includes education, and our ambitions include collecting cabaret artifacts, works of art, literature, photographs, posters, a treasure trove of sheet music, 78s, LPs, CDs, films, books, memorabilia and other material illuminating cabaret’s history, people, and its music.

HALL OF FAME
Each year, we will honor great performers, composers, lyricists, musical directors (both living and deceased), by election into our Hall of Fame. The venues in which they appeared also will be recognized and commemorated. We anticipate more than mere superficial recognition of them, looking ahead to creating photo collections cataloguing their awards, compiling video footage of their careers, making available audio track clips of some of the performances and hit songs. The annual Presentations will be open to invitees as a fundraising event.
